Safeguarding children – Introduction

Consider how you might feel and what you would do if a child attending one of Heartspots appeared to be suffering from neglect or abuse.

Safeguarding of children is a very sensitive and prominent issue in the UK and our charity takes seriously the safety of everyone who visits our Heartspots and events. To ensure that our meditators and volunteers can spot potential abuse and understand how to act, our Heartfulness (HFN) charity has updated its Safeguarding Policies to help us welcome and protect any children who accompany their parents/guardians.

Our HFN charity and its volunteers are not trained, insured, nor permitted to work with children under 18 so our volunteers should not hold HFN sessions for anyone under 18 (although we can offer sessions and HFN materials to teachers). However, children often accompany their parents to our Heartspots and events. Whilst children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians, our charity, its volunteers, and all meditators have a duty to safeguard children in our premises and to report any safeguarding concerns and disclosures which might arise. Any such reporting must be done under strict levels of confidentiality and according to our Charity’s Safeguarding Children Policy.
